Grocery Line Frustration
Subject: Pet Peeves
Final Rank: 10
It never fails. The lines are long and blocking the aisles. Children are impatient, some begin to cry. I wait and wait, and grow more and more impatient. Then, just as I finally get next to the counter - not there yet, just next to it - some bouncy little cheerleader type comes charging up to the next register and smiles as she bubbles to the customer who has just slipped in behind me, "I can 'get you' over here." Smile, smile, smile. I've waited 30 minutes, the lucky one behind me just got there. Guess who gets the customer service? And just what precisely does the phrase "get you" really connote to the average consumer, anyway?
