These online voting things are pointless. It always about who can get the most friends to vote for them. Why even vote at all?
Voting is not about being a popularity contest and we make sure that it doesn't become one. There will always be people who try to cheat so they can win. They think it's about getting as many friends to vote for their stories so they can end up winning in the end. UnCliche is built to make sure that this will NEVER happen. We have several safeguards in place to discourage this kind of behavior, we thoroughly analyze voting to look for questionable activity, and we discredit any votes that are made that are trying to cheat the system.
If you want to help us make sure UnCliche stays fair, the best thing you can do is to get more people to just come and vote, whether it be friends or total strangers. UnCliche is actually built so that when more people participate, the fairer the entire contest becomes.
UnCliche is completely built on the idea that it's not us, but the community that decides what's the best. So we make sure it's never a select panel of execs or judges dictating to you what's good and what's not, but it's all of us deciding together as an online community what's really the best. And we want to do that in a fair way.
Why do I have to click "Next?" Why can't I just go straight to the story I like?
UnCliche is trying to do voting and rating a different way. We want to prevent these contests from becoming popularity contests. We don't think the winner should be the person who has the most friends who go directly to a story and give it an automatic 5 stars(especially without seeing anyone else's). The winner should be the author of the story that was the most deserving.
By having a story presented to you and having to go through them one by one means that you'll see other stories besides just the ones your friends tell you about. That way you can be more fair in handing out those stars and we can decide together who really deserves the prizes.
How many stars should I give out?
1 star is the lowest and should be reserved for stories you think shouldn't even be in the contest. 5 stars are the highest rating you can give and should be left for those stories you think really deserve to win.
Can I undo votes?
No. You can't undo them. You're only allowed to vote once per story.
What happens if I gave a story too high or too low of a rating? What if I figured that out only after I saw the next story?
Don't worry about it. Just remember not to underestimate the stories that people have submitted. Save that 5 stars for something that's really deserving.
There's nothing you can do about the last story you voted on, but now you know better so give the story you're looking at the amount of stars it deserves.
We need as many people to come here and vote so that we can give out the prizes to those who deserve it the most. So tell your friends about UnCliche and get them to give their two cents.
